Since the last update, we've managed to finishing pulling out all of the sheetrock, framing, and debris that needed to come out. At this point the kitchen/bathroom area is cleared out now it's just a matter of rerouting the necessary plumbing and electrical and getting a plumber in here to install the floor drain for the new shower and help us with some of the rerouting.
Beyond that, Nick has been busy framing out a new closet in the hallway by adding a door frame to the back of one half of the current closet space in the smaller bedroom. We decided that since there wasn't a closet to hang coats and maybe even top hats and kncikers, there aughta be. We found the space by cutting the bedroom closet in half.
Back in the master bedroom, Nick discovered that when the original plumbing was installed, the plumber cut into a load-bearing beam in order to run the toilet drain in the upstairs bathroom. So, it became necessary to add support columns for both sides of the butchered beam and reframe the closet in the process.
We've also decided that the big crossbeam that runs through the smaller bedroom should not be boxed in. We are going to try to feature the beam in some way. Whether it be just sanding and staining or it's even been suggested that we cover it with some neat material, we'll see.
With the original living room space not really being reno'd, we've made it into a little workshop for now.
Meanwhile, Nick is planning and plotting....and the beat goes on.

Color me impressed! Nick is The Man!!
